IMAO President’s Welcoming Message

For International Martial Arts Olympiad branch heads who are pursuing peace and health through Taekwondo around the world, I sincerely welcome your participation in the International Martial Arts Olympiad.

I have devoted my whole life for training body and mind through Taekwondo. As a professor of Chungcheong University, I planned “World Youth Taekwondo Culture Festival” and successfully organized them from 1998 to 2012.  

After the Korean martial arts masters invented the Korean-style martial arts 100 years ago, they have become Olympic Taekwondo with Taekwondo instructors around the world. There are 212 countries that train Martial Arts Olympic Taekwondo that inherit the martial arts spirit, and I hope to hold “Martial Arts Taekwondo Olympiad” that features traditional martial arts and traditional dances of each country along with Taekwondo.  

Geumsan, Chungcheongnam-do, is the first city to be globally recognized as Goryeo Ginseng, and we are holding the third Taekwondo Martial Arts Festival from October 13 to October 16 with 1,000,000 citizens participating in the World Ginseng Festival.  

From 2024, we plan to acknowledge and support small and large-scale foreign Martial Arts Olympiad Taekwondo. We also inherit the traditional techniques through international qualification training on “Gwonbeop” from Comprehensive Illustrated Manual of Martial Arts which is registered as UNESCO Memory of the World and recognized as the origin of Taekwondo.

“Kukkiwon” is the global headquarters of Taekwondo for all. Furthermore, “Muju Taekwondo Center” is the world’s best training facility. By connecting Kukkiwon, training “Gwonbeop” at Geumsan 30 minutes away from Muju Taekwondo Center, and exercising “Healthy Taekwondo” through “Geumsan Ginseng” will be another style and memory available at the country where Taekwondo has originated.  

We want to start all of these with you, and you are the main leaders. We invite and welcome you to the international festival of Martial Taekwondo Olympiad held in Korea every October.

해외 각국에서 태권도를 통해 평화와 건강을 추구하는 국제무예올림피아드 지부 회장님 반갑습니다.
여러분들의 국제무예올림피아드 참여를 진심으로 환영합니다.

나는 평생을 태권도를 통해 몸과 정신을 수련해 왔습니다. 또한 한국 충청대학교 교수로써 ‘세계청소년태권도문화축제’를 기획하여 1998년부터 2012년까지 성공적으로 수행해 왔습니다.

한국의 무예 선배들은 100년전 한국형 무예를 창안하여 오늘날 세계의 사범님 들과 함께 올림픽 태권도로 성장하였습니다. 나는 무예정신 철학을 계승하는 무예올림픽태권도를 212개 태권도 수련 국가와 함께 시작하고 했습니다. 여기에는 태권도를 중심으로 각나라의 전통무예, 전통춤이 함께하는 ‘무예 태권도 올림피아드’을 개최하는 것입니다.

올해 3번째로 고려인삼 수도로써 세계적으로 유일하게 인정받고 있는 충청남도 금산에서 세계인삼축제기간 참여하는 100만 시민들과 함께 태권도무예축제를 오는 10월 13일부터 16일까지 개최합니다.

2024년부터는 크고, 작은 규모의 해외 무예올림피아드 태권도를 승인하고 후원하고자 합니다. 또한 유네스코에 세계 기록유산으로 등재되고 태권도의 원류로 인정 받고 있는 무예도보통지의 ‘권법’의 국제자격연수를 통해 옛 기술을 계승합니다.

국기원은 우리모두의 태권도세계 본부입니다. 또한 ‘무주 태권도원’은 세계최고의 연수시설입니다. 국기원을 연결하고 태권도원에서 30분 거리인 금산에서 호국무예 ‘권법’ 수련과 ‘금산 인삼’을 통한 건강태권도의 실현은 태권도 종주국의 또다른 멋과 추억이 될 것입니다.

그 시작을 여러분과 함께 합니다. 그리고 바로 여러분이 그 주인공입니다. 매년 10월 한국에서 개최하는 무예태권도올림피이드인 들의 세계적축제에 여러분을 초청하며 환영합니다.
